The objective of the project is to utilize the grant to implement municipal projects in solid waste management. The funding covers:

a) Management of all categories of solid wastes resulting from activities in the following sectors: domestic, hospitals, slaughter-houses, agricultural, industrial, market place, etc…
b) All stages of the waste management cycle: collection, sorting, transfer, recycling, and treatment (mechanical, biological, thermal). Landfilling was excluded from this cycle as the strategy for locating landfills is still at the planning stage at the Central Government level.
