Group of Municipalities of Upper Metn (Hammana)

P     The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the construction of a sorting and composting facility of capacities 22 and 15 t/d, respectively was originally prepared by the Group of Municipalities and submitted to the Ministry of Environment for approval.

P   In September 2006 the Ministry of Environment approved the EIA and consequently procurement activities of equipments and vehicles can be initiated.

P The tender for the supply of equipments and vehicles was launched in December 2006. Bid opening took place on 6 February 2007.The Containers were delivered on Site by the Supplier (ALBINA) in June 2007.

P   The order to proceed with the preparation of the detailed design and engineering activities for the solid waste management facility was given to the consultant (GLOBEX_MORES_BTD) in January 2007.

P   The detailed design was stopped due a complaint received from a neighboring municipality (Ain Dara). The grouping relocated the facility to a piece of Land in Hamana not far from the Mdeirej Road.

P   The necessary approvals were granted by the relevant stakeholders (Ministry of Environment & Directorate General of the Urban Planing).

P   The Consultant GMB finalized the details on the newly proposed land in March 2009.

P   Launching of the tender is pending the final decision of the grouping with respect to either proceeding with the construction of the facility or its cancellation.

P On 22 December 2009, the Grouping of Upper Matn informed OMSAR of its inability to find a suitable piece of land for building the facility and consequently requested to cancel the funding allocated for this project.
