ü The design for the Ain Baal solid waste management facility was completed under a contract between the Federation and a Consulting office, under close coordination with OMSAR.
ü The facility consists of sorting and composting facilities of capacities 150 and 90 t/d, respectively.
ü The project benefits from a joint financing between OMSAR through its EU fund, the USAID (through YMCA- major electromechanical equipment) and the federation.
ü The tender for the construction of the facility was launched. The tender opening took place on 15 January 2007. The contract was awarded to the contractor INTERTECH BATINORM.
ü The notice to commence was provided to the contractor on 18 June 2007. The contract duration is 10 months.
ü The contract was extended due to several delays and the facility was completed in November 2008.
ü The Acceptance Committee issued the certificate pf provisional acceptance in January 2009.
ü The facility is expected to start Operation after installation of the equipments procured by YMCA through USAID funding (conveyor lines, turning machine,fans,blowers,biofilter,ect...)
P Despite the installation of all needed equipment, the facility is still not yet (January 2011) operational since the Union is not yet able to find a suitable piece of land to build a sanitary landfill for waste projects.
