ü      The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the construction of a sorting and composting facility of capacities 61 and 37 t/d, respectively was originally prepared by the Union of Municipalities and submitted to the Ministry of Environment.  The Ministry of Environment approved the EIA in November 2006.

ü       The preparation of the tender documents for the sorting and composting facility have started in February 2007.

ü The Tender was launched on 22 September 2008.Bid opening took place on 20 November 2008.

ü   After Evaluation of Bids,the contract for the construction of the SWM facility was awarded to "Al bonyan company for Engineering & Contracting sarl".

ü The order to commence was issued by OMSAR upon receipt of the Construction Permit in July 2009

ü   Works are progressing on site and are expected to be complete in July 2010.

ü The commencement order was provided to the contractor on July 2009.

ü As of January 2011, works were completed. Testing and commissioning of equipment shall take place in February 2011
